In Memory of Andrea Restivo

It is with great sadness that we inform you that on August 24, 2020, our beloved colleague, Andrea Restivo, passed away. The loss of Andrea as a friend and scientist leaves a gap, and all the CRS-OGS staff is shocked by his departure and wants to express the most sincere condolences to the family.

Andrea Restivo graduated in Geological Sciences at the University of Trieste in 1996. Despite his illness, in March 2002 he concluded the Ph.D. in Seismology at the University of Bristol, U.K.

Since 2000 he had a fixed-term contract as a Seismologist at the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics OGS (Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale), and was involved in site-response and field acquisition. In more recent years he contributed to the real-time seismic monitoring of NE Italy.

Andrea never gave up and he always showed an extraordinary enthusiasm for life and science, notwithstanding the illness that hit him at the beginning of his career, and that he afforded with courage and positivity.
