OHAZ
A Computer Program for Seismic Hazard Calculation

We are happy to announce the release of the OHAZ computer program, which was presented at the Workshop in Poljce in May 2000. OHAZ (Oriented HAZard) is a program for computing probabilistic seismic hazard maps using spatially-smoothed seismicity approach.

The program comprises several tools for computing such maps. What you can do with this program is:

OHAZ is a Java program, therefore it can theoretically run on any platform. However, it has only been tested on Solaris and Windows platforms.

The program is free of charge and you can download two different versions. In both cases unzip the file into a directory (recommended ohaz) with the same structure as in the zip file. Before installing the program, please read the install.html (placed in the root directory).  The Ohaz user manual is placed on ..\ohaz\doc\manual.doc. Before the download procedure you will be asked to fill in a form with some basic data (name, affiliation, address, e-mail).

  1. If you do not have Java Runtime Environment (JRE) on your computer you can download a version of Ohaz that includes also JRE files (9.8Mb) - for Windows only.
  2. If you already have Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed on your computer you can download only Ohaz files (1.9Mb). After unpacking the ohaz.zip, copy the following JRE files in the directories: swingall.jar (Swing 1.1.1 class libraries)  and jhall.jar (Java help system class libraries) into the ..\ohaz\ directory and jre1_1_8-win.exe into the ..\win\ directory. The files can also be downloaded from  Java Soft web site.
Proceed to download software.
